This book is about a young boy, August, who has a very, very rare facial condition. Because of it (called Treacher Collin's syndrome, but in the book is called something different), he looks very different. Having been homeschooled his whole life, he makes the decision to try public school. He struggles with bullies, but his family and friends are there to support him. He also likes school; he loves science and he has a few friends.
This is one of my favorite books ever. It is beautifully written, and I think everyone should read it.
Age Recommendation: 10+
Violence: One boy punches another, because he teases Auggie.
Language: This book is pretty clean, though there may have been use of "what the h-" once or twice.
I would also recommend you watch the movie that was made based on this book. I will do a book vs. movie comparison for Wonder. I will also do my first Behind the Book, explaining the interesting background story of Wonder.
