Leon Leyson tells his incredible story, living as a small and malnourished kid during World War 2. As a Jew, him and his family were targeted and forced to be separated and sent to work in terrible camps. Leyson describes the horrors he had to face everyday, from abuse (verbal and physical), to near murder, simply because he was a Jew.
I highly recommend this book. It is very informative and descriptive, and I learned a lot about World War 2 and the Holocaust.
Age Recommendation: This book is very heavy subject matter, and is full of devastating things that happened to Jews during this time period. Therefore, I would say ages 13+.
Violence: Obviously, there is lots of violence in this book, but nothing too descriptive. Of course, people are randomly shot, beaten, and whipped. However, that is about the extent of the violence.
Language: As far as I can remember, there is no cursing or cussing in this book.
